The Shows:
Water, by Kacie Devaney: A playwright arrives at the theater only to realize she’s mistaken her opening night, yet an audience sits waiting to be entertained. Forced to improvise, she begins spinning stories on the spot, conjuring a vivid compendium of characters who come alive before our eyes.
Miss Lamarr Goes to Washington, by Cherielyn Ferguson: The story of Hollywood star and inventor Hedy Lamarr as she presents her groundbreaking wartime invention—a secure, frequency-hopping
communication system—to the U.S. Navy in 1942. Despite the innovation’s potential to
revolutionize military technology, Lamarr faces skepticism, bias, and dismissal from officials
who struggle to see beyond her celebrity and background. The play highlights her intelligence,
determination, and frustration, ultimately revealing the cost of being underestimated and the
lasting impact of ideas ahead of their time.
The Cannery Girls, by Isabel Zamaroni: A lively one-act set in 1942 Monterey, where two women working long hours in a sardine factory dream of something more. Tired of grueling labor and inspired by
wartime opportunity, they hatch a plan to form a singing duo and perform at a local supper club.
Balancing friendship, ambition, and the realities of war, the women navigate rehearsals,
deception, and self-doubt as they chase a chance at a better life. Filled with humor, music, and
heart, the play celebrates resilience, camaraderie, and the courage to reinvent oneself
