Call for Submissions: Winter One Acts 2026
Winter is on it’s way and we here at Soapbox Stageworks are very excited for our second season of Winter One Acts! This
year’s theme is “Romance With a Twist.” We’re seeking fresh, original one-act plays that put an unexpected spin on love and relationships.
Submission Guidelines:
Length: No more than 30 minutes
Cast: Up to 6 characters
Eligibility: We welcome new, unproduced works, or pieces that have not previously received awards.
Submission Fee: $15.00, payable via PayPal or Zelle
Deadline: January 15th

Call for Submissions: Central Coast Solo Festival

Presented by Soapbox Stageworks
Dates: April 24 – May 4, 2026
Location: Carl Cherry Center for the Arts — Carmel, California
Soapbox Stageworks is thrilled to announce the launch of the first annual Central Coast Solo Festival, a celebration of powerful storytelling and singular artistic voices. This exciting new festival will showcase 25 selected solo works at the historic Carl Cherry Center for the
Arts in beautiful Carmel, California. As a nonprofit theatre company committed to new works and global inclusion, Soapbox Stageworks welcomes artists from around the world to submit bold, imaginative, and compelling solo pieces!

Submission Requirements
Artists must submit:
• A synopsis of the solo work
• A PDF of their completed script
Performance Length: All solo performances must be no longer than 60 minutes.
Submission Deadline: January 30, 2026
Notification of Selection: February 15, 2026

Technical & Rehearsal Details:
• Each performer receives one hour of tech at no cost.
• An additional tech hour may be purchased for $65.00.
• Each performer will have one performance slot during the festival.

Ticketing & Artist Compensation:

• Tickets will be priced at $50.00.
• Artists retain 75% of their ticket sales.

Marketing & Promotion:
• Performers are responsible for marketing their own show.
• Soapbox Stageworks will also promote the festival through our website, local newspapers,
arts listings, and social media.

Travel & Housing:
• Soapbox Stageworks currently does not provide housing for out-of-town performers.
• We can provide recommendations for local lodging.
Submission Fee: Initial submission fee of $25 USD, if your show is selected there is a $150.00 USD performing fee.

Soapbox Stageworks provides a sandbox for international, US, and local Playwrights to premiere theatrical work in collaboration with ‘Creatives’ from the Monterey Peninsula to exhibit truly dynamic theatre.
